As the big game season draws to a close here in Michigan, I’d like to take a moment to reflect with you on the hunts we’ve shared, the camaraderie we’ve built, and the lessons the wild has taught us. For those who ventured into the woods this season, chasing whitetails, bears, or elk, I hope you’ve found not only success but also the peace that comes from time spent in nature’s embrace.
Now, as the snow settles and the days grow longer, our focus turns to the land—our greatest resource. With just over eight months until the next season begins, it’s time to roll up our sleeves and prepare for what’s ahead.
Stewardship of the Land
At Whiteford, we’re adding 45 acres of habitat—an investment in the future of wildlife and the cherished tradition of hunting. Over at Yuba, we’ll be frost seeding switchgrass to provide ample cover for the creatures that call it home. Additionally, 25 acres of corn will be planted around the barns and office to ensure there’s plenty of forage to sustain life through the seasons.
These efforts are about more than just planting seeds; they’re about nurturing a balance between man and nature, ensuring that the call of the wild echoes for generations to come.
The Birds Still Fly
The pheasants are still here, and the fields are calling. The snow isn’t too deep at Yuba, and the Strong Field holds birds that outsmarted us in the fall. If the weather cooperates, there’s still time to join us for a hunt and savor the thrill of the flush.

Looking Ahead
Hunting has always been more than a sport to me; it’s a way of life. It’s about respect for the land, gratitude for the harvest, and the bonds we share with one another. As we prepare for the 2025 season, let’s carry forward the spirit of adventure and the love of the great outdoors. The woods will be waiting, and so will we.
Until then, take care, and may the memories of the hunt keep you warm through the winter months.
